Three things to know
- A solar return is calculated from the Sun’s return to a natal position.
- Return location and calculation method can change angles and house placements.
- Use yearly themes to ask better questions, not to promise an event will happen.
More precise than a birthday horoscope.
A solar-return chart is calculated around the annual return of the Sun to the natal solar position. The instant need not be on the same local calendar date every year. Your natal data establishes the reference; the chosen return location determines the chart’s horizon and house framework.
Comparing two charts? Compare the settings.
Before assuming either result is wrong, compare the exact return instant, location, zodiac, house system and whether precession correction is used. A precessed return and an uncorrected return can occur at different instants. Mystic exposes its calculation details and uses unequal Placidus houses. An uncertain natal time also limits confidence in return angles.
Give a theme somewhere real to go.
A career theme might become a conversation to prepare for. A relationship theme might become a boundary or an invitation you can make respectfully. A home theme might become one room you improve. The chart does not guarantee money, marriage, pregnancy or someone else’s choices. Revisit your interpretation as your actual year unfolds.
